SPE 311      ORIENT ED EXCPT CHLD
Course description: Includes gifted, mildly handicapped, severely handicapped, and the bilingual/multicultural exceptional child. 
        
EDP 310      EDUC PSYCHOLOGY (#1)            
EDP 310      EDUC PSYCHOLOGY (#2) 
 
Course description: Presents human behavior in educational situations through instructional modules. May be repeated for credit for total of 6 hours. 
 
What I took away from this class: The content I took away from these two classes are that all people are driven by motivation whether it is intrinsic or extrinsic is the real question and why. 
        
MCE 446     UNDRSTNDNG CULTURLLY DIVERSE 
 
Course description: Surveys cultural and linguistic diversity in American education, including education equity, pluralism, learning styles, and roles of schools in a multiethnic society.
 
What I took away from this class: I took away from the class an appreciation of what happened to the native population of the United States.  I got to understand what horrible things happned to these peolpe.  I also, took in the idea that we all have a responsibility to help other people, and especially if you are going to be a teacher of any sort. 

SPF 301      CULTURE & SCHOOLING    
 
Course description: For the professional teacher preparation program. Overview of the cultural, social, and political milieus in which formal schooling takes place in the United States. Lecture, recitation.
 
What I took away from this class: This course made me think of how I want to teach.  Which appraoch to teaching do I want to use in the classroom.  This class was important in the way it made me connect to how things can be done in a classroom.
      
ECD 310      ED ENVIR:INFANT/TODD 
 
Course description: Organizing, planning, and implementing developmentally appropriate educational practices to provide optimal learning environments for infants and toddlers in group settings.
 
What I took away from this class: This class made me think about how to organize and to develop a developmentally appropriate educational practices in a infant/toddler environment.  It also made me realize just how important early education can be on a young child.
       
EDP 313      CHILDHD & ADOLESCNCE         
Course description: Principles underlying total development of pre- and early-adolescent children. Emphasizes physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development with practical implications for teachers grades 5-9.
 
What I took away from this class: This class was designed to help me figure out how children learn and what you as a teacher can do to make it the best possible learning environment.
 
MTE 180      THRY ELEMENTARY MATH        
 
Course description: Number systems, intuitive geometry, elementary algebra, and measurement. Intended for prospective elementary school teachers.
 
What I took away from this class: This class basically is about how to teach children math concepts using manipulatives.

Course description: Major areas of theory and research in psychology. Requires participation in department-sponsored research or an educationally equivalent alternative activity. 

What I took away from this class:  I learned a  lot about the general principles of psychology.

PSY 230  $ 231    INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS (w/LABORATORY FOR STATISTICS
 
Course description: An introduction to basic concepts in descriptive and inferential statistics, with emphasis upon application to psychology. Consideration given to the methods of data collection, sampling techniques, graphing of data, and the statistical evaluation of data collected through experimentation.
 
What I took away from this class: I learned that through hardwork one can learn something difficult and time consuming.  This was a class that I worked really hard in and I even got a good grade.  It made me think that I am capable of doing something that is hard even daunting.
 
PSY 260      PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT
      
Course description: Introduction to theories of personality with emphasis upon application of specific theories towards the understanding of indiduals.
 
What I took away from this class: I really learned about what is an effective way to deal with stress and how to understand other peoples viewpoints.
 
PSY 266      ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY      
 
Course description: Distinguishes between normal behavior and psychological disorders. Subjects may include stress disorders, problems with anxiety and depression, unusual and abnormal sexual behavior, schizophrenia and addictive behaviors. Causes and treatments of psychological problems and disorders are discussed.
 
What I took away from this class: Is the idea that all people may have problems and some people have more severe types of problems than others.  This class covered the basics of abnormal psychology principles.
 
PGS 270      PERSONAL & SOCIAL ADJUST     
 
Course description: It is literally a normal behavior course emphasizing personal adjustments to maintain effective coping behaviors for normal events in one's life.  Te course focuses on motivation, emotions, anxity, stress, ineffective and effective coping behaviors, and particularly interpersonal relationships.
 
What I took away from this class: This covered the ideas that emotions are poeeful influencers of motivation.  This class is important because oit made me think that there are ways to deal with anxity and stress, and more importantly relationships.

PSY 290      RESEARCH METHODS
 
Course description:Planning, execution, analysis, and reporting of experiments. Literature, procedures, and instruments in representative areas of psychological research.
 
What I took away from this class: This class really made me aware of how people set up experiments.  I found myself understanding how people set up experiments and how to interpret them as well.
 
PGS 304      EFFECTIVE THINKING          
 
Course description:Understanding and improving intellectual and behavioral skills; information analysis, inference, logic, problem solving, and decision making.
 
What I took away from this class: Is the fact that one needs to apply logic in any given circumstance.  This class made me aware that I need to think before I act.
 
PSY 320      LEARNING/MOTIVATION         
 
Course description:Principles of conditioning and motivation; approaches to learning, including acquisition of verbal materials, concepts, and motor skills; memory and transfer.
 
What I took away from this class: This class made me think of how reinforcers are important in life, especially secondary ones to the primary ones.
 
PGS 341      DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCH          
 
Course description:Analyzes behavior development in terms of psychological principles. Current research in human development
 
What I took away from this class: This class was a really graet way to cover the human infant and young child.  I leaned that infants are capableof more than most people think. 
 
PGS 350      SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY            
Course description:Human social behavior, including such concepts as aggression, attraction, attribution, conformity, groups, helping, person perception, and persuasion.
 
What I took away from this class: This is one of the most important psychology classes that I have ever taken becuase it covers human social behavior.  It has a lot of informationa that I am able to use in other circumstances all the time. 
 
PGS 443      ABNORMAL CHILD PSYCH         
Course description:Covers major disorders of childhood and adolescence (e.g., autism, hyperactivity, phobias, and delinquency), including cause, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
 
What I took away from this class: I took away the knowledge that there are some major disorders of childhood and adolescence.
